Those statistics about fire frequency ice v EV are, as always, not revealing the data buried in the fine print. ICE fires include cars that are stolen for Joyrides and criminal activities, or stolen for insurance claims, in all of those cases the car is set on fire. As it happens, EV's have almost non-existent stats for any of those situations. Let's face it, who would steal an EV for a Joyride, or as a getaway car in criminal activities?! The other obvious thing is there are many ICE cars still driving around that are 20,30 -plus years old and many have not been properly maintained. By contrast, EV's are very new, with the oldest being only around 10 years. Let's see how they fare when there are huge numbers of EV's going around with old batteries in them. Mind you, given batteries fail usually at 8-12 years, that in itself is unlikely to lead to old EV's and old batteries being around anyway....

If you're careful with disassembly, you can get handfuls of 200+ mAh lithium cells simply by picking up trash along the side of the road. He's saving them from landfills, AND repurposing them. That is, at its heart, environmentally friendly.

This is a perfect example of how most politicians have no clue how an electrical grid works. They have been captured by the “save the planet - climate change” extremists. The problem is though that they don’t appear to have taken any information onboard from electrical engineers, people that run the grid, experts in power generation (unless green ‘experts’) OR what most people want. So we end up with: EVs that the public hate, that catch fire and are unsuitable for most people’s lives. EVs that are not reducing CO2 over their short lifetime. An electrical grid that needs $millions invested to upgrade capacity. Electric generation unstable means - wind & solar. Rising electricity prices - hits the poorest hardest. Businesses become uncompetitive with China/India etc. It is a complete mess and radical changes of direction are required urgently.

I'm living in the USA. Went to the local dump yesterday and asked them where to dump my batteries. They asked "what kind of batteries"? I said "Li-ion". They said "we don't accept that type". So I said "where do I dump them then?" They didn't know. So I told them that I made a mistake and that they were lead-acid batteries. That solved the issue.

The average person would never consider buying an electric car simply because there are no charging stations. The replacement battery is typically $20,000 or more. The tires are going to be horribly expensive because the vehicles are very heavy. Tires were out very quickly and of course nobody wants to repair the electric vehicles so any minor fender bender will result in insurance companies totaling the vehicle, which will make insurance rates sore to heaven, and still these fanboys have not put pen to paper and figured out the math in all this

China has developed a battery that can be recharged in 10 minutes so what I can be completely empty in my diesel truck pull up to any diesel pump in the world and be completely recharged within 10 minutes

Hi , as a secondary precautions all my battery charging is also routed through a timer only permitting a 3hour charge time in total , this as a fail safe if the diode in the charging device fails

Tasman Logistics which is a considerable middle size wharf cartage transport company has a few of these electric trucks in it fleet & paid a fortune for them here in Melbourne. Problem is no one wants to drive them even with the extra $2.50 per hour over the standard rate. Interesting
